Diesel vs. Gas Resale Value

Diesel pushers and gas Class As age completely differently on the resale market. What holds value, what does not, and how it changes your selling strategy.

Two Different Machines, Two Different Markets

Gas Class A (Ford F-53 / V10, now 7.3): cheaper to buy, cheaper to fix, but the coach ages faster than the chassis. Resale is price-driven — buyers shop the number, not the spec sheet. Expect the steep early drop and a long flat tail where condition is everything.

Diesel pusher (Cummins/Cat on Freightliner or Spartan): the chassis is a half-million-mile commercial platform, so a 150k-mile pusher is mid-life, not used up. Value concentrates in maintenance records, tire dates (the 7-year rule), slide function, and whether the Aqua-Hot and generator run. Air ride, air brakes, and torque keep a real buyer pool alive for 20+ year old coaches.

What This Means When You Sell

Selling a gasser: do not wait for a better market — gas coaches only get cheaper. Selling a pusher: mileage scares private buyers more than it should, and dealers will not touch anything over 10 years old regardless of condition. That gap between real value and available buyers is exactly where a direct buyer fits. We buy both, at every age: 954-740-1983.
